Abstract
1388365 Rotary positive displacement machines NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 2 July 1973 [4 July 1972] 31462/73 Heading F1F In a trochoidal-type I. C. engine comprising a piston 20 rotatable on an eccentric portion 24 of a shaft 26 and having an internal chamber 52 supplied with cooling oil via passages 44,50, leakage of oil from chamber 52 is prevented by sealing rings 62, 58, 80 located in annular grooves in eccentric 24 and a member 70 attached thereto. Blow-by gas acts in chambers defined between the sealing rings and the working chamber walls 12, 14 to bias the sealing rings into sealing contact with their grooves, valves 92, 102 acting to connect the blow-by gas chambers to atmosphere when the blow-by gas pressure exceeds a predetermined maximum or falls below a predetermined minimum. The gas chambers are inter-connected by passage 86 and connected to valves 92, 102 by passage 88. The valves are connected to atmosphere via an air cleaner. As shown, the valves comprise a spring-loaded ball valve 94 of adjustable loading for relieving the gas pressure and a spring-loaded lift valve 102 for admitting atmospheric pressure. In Fig.3 (not shown), the atmospheric pressure admission valve (124) is coaxially located within a tubular pressure relief valve (116). The piston 20 has apex seals 32, and sealing rings 42, 56, and is supported by a bearing 22. Toothed members 36, 38 control the piston movement.
