Abstract
1387958 Delivering sheets CX CORP 7 June 1973 [17 Oct 1972] 27268/73 Heading B8R A gate mechanism for directing sheets advanced by belts 108, 112, Fig. 2, into any one of three paths comprises a gate 120 fixed on a shaft 120b, Figs. 2 and 4, connected by a crank arm 120b, to a displaceable and pivotable beam 120e. The beam is formed at each end as a ball, which is received in a cylindrical socket 121a, 123a of a shuttle 121, 123 respectively. The shuttles 121, 123 are respectively connected to the armatures 125a, 127a of electromagnets 125, 127 and to the armatures 129a, 131a of electro. magnets 129, 131. With only the magnets 125, 131 energized, the gate is pivoted to a position with its leading end below the sheet infeed path, Fig. 2, to direct the sheet to the nip between the belt 112 and a roller 144. With only the magnets 125, 129 or the magnets 127, 131 energized, the gate is swung clockwise so that its leading end is above the infeed path to direct the sheet between belts 116, 118. With only the magnets 127, 129 energized, the gate is swung farther clockwise to direct the sheet below a plate 110.
