Abstract
1387722 Racks for yarn beams B & J MACHINERY CO Inc 13 April 1972 [23 April 1971] 17165/72 Heading D1E A rack 20, Fig. 3, for supporting a plurality of yarn beams 44 in operative position adjacent a yarn processing apparatus comprises side rails 34, supported by a frame 22 and each having a chain conveyor 50 carrying beam carriers 60, Fig. 5, each having a lining 68, e.g. of dry leather, which frictionally engages its associated beam end such that the braking Forque applied thereby to resist drawing-off of the yarn diminishes as the yarn is withdrawn to offset the reducing diameter. To load the rack, a full beam is rolled to a position adjacent the lower ends of rails 34 and the conveyers are started causing the first carriers to engage the beam axles 42 and lift the beam. The second and subsequent beams are engaged by the corresponding carriers. In a modification, the side rails have the carriers secured thereto in fixed positions.
