Abstract
1387334 Super-conductors LINDE AG 19 July 1972 [19 July 1971] 33870/72 Headings H 1A and A4D A super-conducting electric cable comprises super-conducting metal bands mounted on a corrugated tubular non-super-conducting metal carrier or substrate in which individual corrugations run in a circumferential direction. An embodiment, Fig. 3, has super-conducting bands 5 arranged equidistantly around the circumference of substrate 3 and soldered, welded, plated or bonded thereto. In the space between the bands 5 openings 4 are provided for circulation of the refrigerant. In another embodiment (not shown), Fig. 1, the super-conducting metal (2) is embedded in the substrate (1) with holes therethrough at (4). The tubular structure is corrugated in such a way that the cable is flexible and may be transported by drum. In yet another embodiment (not shown), several strips of embedded composite conductors are joined together longitudinally and formed into a tube which is then corrugated.
