Abstract

1387261 Floor cleaners DOWDING & PLUMMER Ltd 26 June 1972 [18 May 1971] 15443/71 Heading A4F [Also in Division B3] A floor treating appliance, which may be a polisher or abrading machine, comprises a resilient drive transmission arrangement between a motor output shaft 11 and a drive plate 16 to which can be attached a brush or pad, the resilient drive transmission arrangement comprising at least one block 17 of resilient material engaged by projections on the drive plate 16 and an element 12 attached to the shaft. As shown the drive plate 16 and the drive element 12 are provided with a plurality of circumferentially spaced projections 18 which engage corresponding recesses in a block 17 of rubber or synthetic rubber material, the block 17 allowing movement of the drive plate 16 relative to the element 12 about the shaft axis and also along the direction of the shaft axis. The plate 16 which is attached by screws 22 and a retaining disc 21 to the element 12 is provided with attachment elements 24, 25 for a brush or pad. In an alternative embodiment, four blocks (29), (30) Fig.6, (not shown) each of part annular shape are arranged between projections on the drive element and drive plate respectively.
