Abstract

1387134 N-Acyl benzotriazoles MOBIL OIL CORP 19 May 1972 [15 July 1971 1 Feb 1972] 23641/72 Heading C2C [Also in Division C5] N-Acyl benzotriazoles are prepared by acylation of benzotriazole with a carboxylic acid, acid anhydride or acid chloride. Examples describe the preparation of: (1) N-acetyl benzotriazole: (2) N-butyryl benzotriazole; (3) N-pivaloyl benzotriazole; (4) N-nonanoyl benzotriazole; (5) N-oleoyl benzotriazole: (6) N-stearoyl benzotriazole; (7) N,N<SP>1</SP>-sebacyl benzotriazole, and the reaction products of tolyl triazole with dodecenyl succinic anhydride, and of benzotriazole with dodecenyl succinic anhydride, a polybutenyl succinic anhydride, 'or iso-octadecyl succinic anhydride. The products are used as copper corrosion inhibitors on lubricants and fuels (see Division C5]
