Abstract

1386936 Stabilizing cyanurate compositions FMC CORP 27 March 1973 [30 March 1972 12 April 1972] 14760/73 Heading A5E A method of stabilizing alkali metal dichlorocyanurates against thermal and chemical decomposition comprises forming a composition having as its essential components (1) from 35-65% of an alkali metal dichlorocyanurate; (2) from 30-50% of cyanuric acid or an alkali metal salt thereof; and (3) from 5-15% of an inorganic salt the pH of which is at least 9 in aqueous media, the aforesaid percentages being by weight and based on the total composition. Component (3) may be sodium, potassium or calcium carbonate, sodium or potassium tripolyphosphate, or sodium or potassium silicate. The stabilized compositions find application in combating bacteria in swimming pools and in detergent and sanitizing compositions.
