Abstract

1386727 Coated fabrics BAYER AG 11 May 1973 [13 May 1972] 22516/73 Heading B2E A napped fabric woven from polyester or polyester/cotton blend has a polyurethane layer applied to the napped side thereof. The blend preferably contains at most 70% of cotton. Suitable polyesters are terephthalic acid/ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid/1, 4-cyclohexane dimethanol polyesters and corresponding copolyesters. The coated fabrics may be after-treated to provide a grain or embossed pattern, for example by treating the coated fabric in an axial spin-dryer rotating in alternate directions at from 20 to 100‹C. The fabrics can be woven in conventional rough weaves preferably atlas or twill. After coating a finish of polyurethane, silicone, polyacrylate or cellulose acetobutyrates may be applied from solvents or dispersions by brushing, spray-coating or roller-coating. The polyurethane coating may be applied by a reversal process or a two-coat process.
