Abstract

1,235,767. Abrading. J. BIRKENSTOCK, [trading as BI-FLEX BIRKENSTOCK KG.]. 13 March, 1969 [16 March, 1968], No. 13230/69. Heading B3D. A polishing ring comprises individual textile strips K which are each laid in U-shape around a carrying ring 1 to form a polishing rim, the arms 2<SP>1</SP>, 2<SP>11</SP> being interconnected on the outside of the ring by a quilting seam 4 or the like, each arm of each U being crinkled by a multiple twisting of the textile strip. Each textile strip consists of diagonally woven fabric and is crinkled by multiple twisting around its longitudinal axis. A plurality of twisted strips are formed into U-shape and disposed around the ring 1 which may be of iron or plastics material and are secured thereto by stitching 4. The apex zone of the strips may be fixed by hot ironing and the threads of the fabric may be given a strong binding by impregnation. A number of strips may be disposed one above the other.
