Abstract

1386635 Heatable containers MARDON SON & HALL Ltd 7 May 1973 [19 May 1972] 23677/72 Heading A4A [Also in Divisions B2 and B8] A heating container is made from fibreboard 10 protected on each side with a heat-resistant layer 11,12 of packaging material, the protective layer 12 on the inside being impermeable to water and water vapour and the protective layer 12 on the outside being made of heat-resistant plastics or heat-resistant heat-sealable varnish and being permeable to water vapour so that when the container is heated the water vapour escapes quickly enough to avoid the formation of blisters. The outer layer 11 has minute perforations 13 in the base 7 and the side walls 8. The fibreboard 10 has a weight of 300-350 glm<SP>2</SP> while that of the layers 11, 12 is 20-25 glm<SP>2</SP>. The layers 11,12 may be of polypropylene extruded on to the fibreboard 10. The perforations 13 are 25mm in diameter and staggered in rows 12mm apart, adjacent perforations in a row being 11 mm apart. Other suitable protective layers are listed, e.g. a porous clear varnish for the outside and impermeable polymethylpentene polymer for the inside.
