1386044 Resolving 3-fluoro-DL-alanine mixture MERCK & CO Inc 29 Jan 1973 [3 Feb 1972] 4428/73 Heading C2C A process for resolving a DL-mixture of 3-fluoro-DL-alanine compound comprises preparing a saturated solution of the DL mixture in a solution zone; transforming the solution into a supersaturated solution of the DL mixture; contacting the supersaturated solution with L-isomer crystals thereby crystallizing L-isomer from the solution; separating the mother liquor and contacting it with D-isomer crystals thereby crystallizing the 3-fluoro-D- alanine compound and recovering the 3-fluoro- D-alanine compound. The alanine compound may be 3-fluoro-DL-alanine benzene sulphonate, and N-acyl derivative or 3-fluoro-DL- alanine itself.
