Abstract
1385510 Bearings HOESCH WERKE AG 15 Dec 1972 [25 Jan 1972] 56280/72 Heading F2A A hydrostatic support device for a bearing ring 100 comprises a bearing plate 30 having a recessed surface for supporting the bearing ring, the plate being mounted on a support member 40 which has part spherical surfaces mating with corresponding surfaces on the plate, the support member being mounted on a piston 60 which has through it a duct 62 for supplying hydrostatic medium, the piston being received in a cylinder 73 in a member 70 which is mounted in a support ring 20 by a screw threaded connection. The position of the cylinder may be adjusted by turning the screw and means 110 are provided for locking the cylinder in position. The bearing plate is biased towards the bearing ring by fluid pressure acting on the piston. Fluid may be supplied to the surface of the bearing plate to provide a fluid bearing.
