1385374 Cycloaliphatic ketones SNIA VISCOSA SOC NAZIONALE INDUSTRIA APPLICAZIONI VISCOSA SpA 16 Feb 1972 [16 Feb 1971] 7256/72 Heading C2C A method for the preparation of cycloaliphatic ketones having the general formula where n is an integer from 3 to 13 comprises reacting with oxygen in a single stage or in two subsequent stages at a temperature which does not produce an explosive reaction a cycloaliphatic ketene having the general formula where n is as defined above, the reaction being carried out with the cycloaliphatic ketene dissolved in a solvent forming part of a reaction mass in which an oxide or salt of silver or of a metal of the kind which has more than one valence state is dissolved or dispersed as catalyst and the reaction proceeding with regular evolution of carbon dioxide. Examples describe the preparation of cyclohexanone and cyclononanone.
