The burner nozzle l is surrounded by a sleeve a to which is secured, by a screwed sleeve c, an intermediate sleeve b, so as to provide two annular passages g, for compressed air. The passages are connected to each other at j and converge in the direction of the flame at their lower ends. The burner may be lit below water by an electric spark.
