Abstract

Dividing and uniting by fusion.-In an apparatus for autogenously cutting or welding metal under water, the burner nozzzle is surrounded by two concentric passages from which compressed air issues to force back the water. The burner nozzle l is surrounded by a sleeve a to which is secured, by a screwed sleeve c, an intermediate sleeve b, so as to provide two annular passages g, for compressed air. The passages are connected to each other at j and converge in the direction of the flame at their lower ends. The burner may be lit below water by an electric spark.
