Abstract
1385032 Surgical infusion SIEMENS AG 31 Jan 1972 [1 Feb 1971] 4489/72 Heading A5R [Also in Division F2] A flexible tube (2, Fig. 1, not shown), attached to a catheter (3) is joined to a swivel coupling 16. The coupling preferably has a metal or glass cylinder 17, sealed with a metal wall 18. Plungers 19, 27 and 37 are a sliding fit in the cylinder and rotate with their surfaceground end faces 24, 40 in fluid-tight contact with end wall 18 and cover 40. Ball bearings are placed between plungers 27 and 37 to ensure free rotation of the joint 33, connected to the catheter. Annular grooves 42 and 43 collect any fluid leaking from gap 22, which is a few tenths of a mm. wide.
