Abstract
1384717 Loud-speaker diaphragms MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd and SEKISUI KAGAKU KOGYO KK 30 May 1972 [5 July 1971] 48376/73 Divided out of 1384716 Heading H4J An annular outer peripheral suspension member 22 (Fig. 1) for a loud-speaker cone 20 is formed of foamed plastics having a closed cellular structure. The foamed plastics may be an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer or a mixture of polyethylene and an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer. Preferred percentages by weight of materials are given. Either a decomposing blowing agent such as azodicarbonamide or a volatile blowing agent such as dichlorodifluoromethane is used. Cross-linked bonds are preferably formed by addition of an organic peroxide, e.g. dicumenyl peroxide, or by irradiation with electron beams or ionizing radiations before the copolymer or the mixture of copolymer and polyethylene is subjected to the foaming process. The suspension member has an annularly raised portion (see also, Fig. 2, not shown) and is formed by heating and pressing a foamed sheet to the required shape.
