Abstract
1384459 Colour television tubes RCA CORPORATION 27 Dec 1972 [23 Dec 1971] 59673/72 Heading H1D A method of temporarily reducing the apertures in a shadow mask of a colour cathode ray tube, for the purposes of printing photographically the luminescent screen, comprises applying to a surface of the mask an organic material and two liquid vehicles of differing boiling points, heating the mask to the lower boiling point to drive off the first vehicle, thereby forming a film across the mask, then rapidly heating the film to just below the boiling point of the second vehicle causing the film in each aperture to break and form a bead around and partially closing the aperture. The organic film material can be PVA, the first vehicle can be water or a monoalcohol and the second vehicle can be ethylene glycol, glycol, triethylene glycol or glycerol.
