Abstract
1384351 Fluid density measurement CANADIAN PATENTS & DEVELOPMENT Ltd 1 Feb 1973 5046/73 Addition to 1319313 Heading G1S An improvement in or modification of the densitometer disclosed in Specification 1319313 comprises a jet nozzle having an orifice the geometry of which is defined in terms of its hydraulic radius h which is such as to produce a turbulent jet. The Reynolds number R must be in excess of 1700 and V is the velocity of the supply jet, p the density of the supply jet and Á the viscosity of the supply jet. h is defined in terms of the area A of the orifice and its perimeter P thus, A turbulent jet is defined as being substantially conical in form when produced by a circular orifice, and having a virtual origin on its axis approximately five orifice diameters upstream of the orifice.
