Abstract
1383640 Organic disulphides AGFAGEVAERT 10 Aug 1972 [13 Sept 1971] 42562/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division G2] Formula I is prepared by reacting 4,4<SP>1</SP>- dithioaniline with o-sulphobenzoic acid and neutralizing the product with sodium carbonate. Formula II is prepared by mixing with sodium hydroxide and adding sodium iodide and iodine. Formula IV is prepared by reacting cystamin with propane sultone. Formula V is prepared by mixing 2-mercaptomethylbenzimidazole-5-sulphonic acid with sodium carbonate and adding potassium iodide and iodine. Formula VI is prepared by neutralizing and reacting the product with propane sultone- Formula VIII is prepared by neutralizing and reacting the product with propane sultone. Formula X is prepared by . (a) reacting p-nitrophenol with potassium hydroxide and reacting the potassium salt with propane sultone; (b) reducing the compound formed in step (a); and (c) forming a solution of the compound formed in step (b) and sodium nitrite, adding the solution to hydrochloric acid to make the diazonium salt, adding the salt to an alkaline sodium disulphide solution and finally acidifying the solution and heating. Formula XI is prepared as follows: (a) benzothiazoline - 2 - thione - 5 - sulphonic acid potassium salt is prepared by mixing 3-nitro-4- chlorobenzenesulphonic acid sodium salt with a sodium hydrogen sulphide solution, adding carbon disulphide and finally potassium chloride, (b) the compound prepared in step (a) is reacted with a solution of potassium iodide, iodine and potassium carbonate.
