Abstract

1383427 Detergent bath composition PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 29 June 1972 [29 June 1971] 30517/72 Heading C5D A granular free-flowing detergent bath composition comprises a water-soluble synthetic organic detergent (A) and a microencapsulated emollient bath oil (B) having an encapsulating wall material which is soluble in water at a temperature within the range from 75‹ to 115‹ F. to release therefrom the emollient bath oil, the composition containing 37 to 80% by wt. of microencapsulated emollient relative to the total composition, and not more than 5% by wt. of free moisture and having a pH value in aqueous solution within the range from 5 to 10. The bath oil may be chosen from a mineral oil, a vegetable oil, a lanolin alcohol or ester, a silicone oil, isopropyl myristate, isopropyl palmitate and decaglycerol. A mixture of mineral oil and isopropyl myristate is preferred. The wall material comprises 10 to 30% by wt. of the microcapsule and may consist of gelatine, gelatine/gum arabic or gelatine/sodium alginate. The organic detergent (A) may be an anionic, nonionic, ampholytic or zwitterionic surfactant or mixture thereof. An organic and/or inorganic alkaline builder salt (C) may be present. The ratio of (A) to (C) is from 2 : 1 to 1 : 10. The microcapsules are dry mixed with spray-dried granules of the detergent components or with the mixed powdered detergent components which may contain soap and pyrogenic silica. A preferred detergent is sodium alkyl glycerol ether sulphonate which is soap curd-dispersing and does not cause emollient deposition. The detergent granules should have a particle size of 0À1 mm. to 1À5 mm. Conventional detergent adjuvants may be present.
