Abstract

1383280 Self-loading scrapers CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 18 July 1973 34248/73 Heading B8A [Also in Division E1] A self-loading scraper comprises a bowl assembly with walls 11, 12, 13 and a floor 14, a horizontally disposed cutting blade 15 mounted on a lower, forward end of the bowl assembly and an elevator assembly 16 mounted on the forward end of the bowl assembly to have its lower end positioned adjacent to the blade 15. The elevator assembly 16 comprises at least three (four being shown) laterally spaced endless chains 17 to 20 and a plurality of spaced flight members 27, 28, 29 attached to the chains 17 to 20 to extend in a transverse direction thereto, at least some of the flight members being disposed in vertical and transverse off-set staggered relationship with respect to other flight members. Figs. 2 to 5 (not shown), illustrate alternative embodiments of the staggered flight members including arrangements in which some of the flight members extend between three or all four chains 17 to 20.
