Abstract

1382940 (2-Alkoxy-5-sulphanoyl benzamido) heterocyclic derivatives DELMAR CHEMICALS Ltd 20 June 1973 [23 June 1972] 29192/73 Heading C2C Compounds I in which X is sulphanoyl or mono or di- (C 1-6 alkyl) sulphanoyl, R and R 3 are C 1-6 alkyl, n is 0, 1 or 2 and m is 1 or 2 are prepared by chlorosulphonation of a compound of Formula I in which X is hydrogen or an acid addition salt thereof to form a compound of Formula I in which X is Cl-SO 2 -followed by anmonolysis or aminolysis to form the 5-sulphamoyl or 5- mono or di- (C 1-6 alkyl) sulphamoyl group. Compounds I may be converted to the corresponding N- oxide or quaternary ammonium or acid addition salt. 1 - Ethyl - 2 - (2 - methoxy - 5 - sulphamoyl benzamido methyl)-pyrrolidine is prepared. Compounds of Formula I in which X is hydrogen are prepared by reacting (1) a 2- C 1-6 alkoxy benzoic acid or its acid chloride with a heterocyclic amine preferably in the presence of a condensing agent (silicon tetrachloride or a diimide) or (2) salicylic acid or its acid chloride with amine IV and subsequently alkylating at the 2-position. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,088,531.
