Abstract
1382919 Weaving stringer tapes WILLIAM PRYM-WERKE KG 20 March 1972 [25 March 1971 10 April 1971 22 May 1971] 12834/72 Addition to 1341266 Headings DIE and D1K Coupling links are formed in a stringer tape during weaving by a rotor 47 having an eccentric aperture 56 through which a thread 15 passes so that as the rotor rotates loops of the thread are formed about a mandrel 16 at one side of the shed and supported at one end in the centre of the rotor 47. The loops slide off the free end 33 of the mandrel as the fabric is taken up. Loops of weft 12 are inserted by a needle 17 and the rotor is dimensioned and positioned so that thread 15 is reciprocated a vertical distance equal to twice the height of the shed at the axis of the rotor, and so that the mandrel 16 is coplanar with the bottom warp sheet. A supporting thread 60 may be woven into the loops 16, the thread 60 being taken from a bobbin 67 through which thread 15 passes, and which rotates synchronously with rotor 47 to prevent threads 15 and 60 from looping around each other, and then passes through a stationary bush 55 to the fell 57. The thread is shed above the level of the weft inserter 17 on alternate picks by a notched rod 62 Fig. 3, or it may pass through an eccentric aperture (59) Fig. 5 (not shown) in bush 55 so that as bush 55 is oscillated thread 60 passes alternately above and below the level of the weft inserter 17. Alternatively, the weft inserter 17 may enter the shed at different vertical levels respectively above and below the thread 60 on alternate picks (Fig. 5). Stringer tapes (Fig. 7b not shown). Additional warp threads 37 may be incorporated above and below the main sheet to form a channel section into which the internal bights 39 of the coupling loops fit. The thread 15 may be a plastics or metal filament.
