Abstract
1382635 Data processing system SIEMENS AG 17 April 1972 [26 April 1971] 17551/72 Heading G4C A data processing system includes a data store consisting of a plurality of independently accessible storage modules TS which, in terms of their addressing arrangement, are arranged in a matrix of rows and columns, the arrangement being such that instructions and data for the system are stored in storage modules in different rows or in different columns. As shown eight storage modules are arranged in two rows and four columns, the arrangement referring to the addressing scheme and not necessarily to the physical arrangement. Instructions may be stored in row Z 1 of the store and data in row Z2. Alternatively instruction may be stored in, e.g. column S1, and data in, e.g. column S4. As described instructions are stored in row Z1, the first instruction in cell I of the store S1, Z1, instruction 2 in cell 2 of store S2, Z1, &c. Addressing, in the embodiment, is by means of a word having two column selecting bits, one row selecting bit, and a group of bits to select the cell within the store module selected by the row and column bits.
