Abstract
1382085 Coke oven doors USS ENGINEERS & CONSULTANTS Inc 22 March 1972 [1 April 1971] 13440/72 Heading C5E A flexible metal stealing strip 18 on a coke oven door frame 14 is clamped against the sealing surface 12 of a door jamb 10 by a wedge plate 44, see Fig. 3 (not shown), which is movable normal to the plane of the drawing between the rear edge 20 of the strip 18 and a rotatable shaft 30 journalled in a hole 24 in the frame 14. A disc 34 mounted on the shaft 30 carries a pin 42 received in a slot 54 in a thin section 50 of the plate 44, see Fig. 3, so that rotation of the shaft 30 causes the pin 42 to bear against the wall of the slot 54 and move a slanting surface 48 of the plate 44, e.g. to the left in Fig. 3, over the shaft 30 and force the strip 18 upwards in Fig. 2, by engagement therewith of a shoulder 52 which separates the section 50 from a thick section 46 of the plate 44. Nut 38 enables the disc 34 to be tightened against the plate 44 to lock the assembly. A plurality of holes 24 may be provided, some with the assembly described, some with hook bolts.
