Abstract

1382031 Stabilization of vodka HEUBLEIN Inc 20 Feb 1973 [10 July 1972] 8245/73 Heading C6E A method for the stabilization of vodka involves treating the vodka with activated charcoal to remove or decrease the concentration of congenerics responsible for taste and odour and treating the charcoal-treated vodka with a strongly acidic cationic exchange resin in the sodium or potassium form to remove such polyvalent metallic ions e.g. manganese and calcium, as may have been introduced into the vodka by the treatment with activated charcoal and to control the pH of the vodka so that it lies within the range of 7À2 to 9. The resin may be a sulphanated polystyrene.
