Abstract

1381898 Locks BOMORO BOCKLENBERG & MOTTE GmbH & CO and DAIMLER-BENZ AG 20 Oct 1972 [22 Oct 1971] 48448/72 Heading E2A In a lock for a door and having a rotatable bolting element 4 which engages in the event of closure of the door, in a keeper, and the securing position of which secures a catch 7 releasable from the bolting element by a releasing lever 13 associated with a securing lever 20 for the purpose of blocking the releasing movement or for disengaging its connection with the catch, a constrained-bolting lever 31 is indirectly connected to the lever 20 and has a part 43 which moves the catch, e.g. via a stop 44, when the lever 31 is actuated. As shown, the latch 4 is retained in the securing position by the catch 7 which has a cam 9 engageable in a notch 10 in the latch and the lever 20 engages a pivoted lever 17 to which is pivoted a lever 16 carrying a pin 15 movable in a guide slot 19 of the lever 13 and so that the free end of the catch can be moved to allow the catch to be disengaged from the latch; the lever 20 is actuated by a peg 27 carried by a member 26 rotatable upon operation of a cylinder lock 26, or by a knob or a linkage acting on the arms 23, 24 thereof. The lever 31 pivoted at 30 on the lever 17 is displaceable by pivoting of the lever 17 and includes a control edge 35 associated with a peg 33 on the latch 4, and a gate 36 guided by a peg 37 and formed with cut-outs 38, 39. When the latch is brought to a door-securing position, the peg 33 moves from the position shown in Fig. 6 to that shown in Fig. 1 and the lever 31 follows the peg under the action of the spring 42, the movement of the lever being arrested by the peg 37 whereupon the peg 33 is lifted off the edge 35 and movement of the lever 20 is possible since the peg 37 is then able to enter the cut-out 39 when the levers 17, 31 are raised; the lever 31 has a nose 43 which is moved up to a stop 44 on the catch 7. The lever 21 is prevented from operation in intermediate positions thereof since the peg 37 bears against that part of the gate which is eccentric with the axis 30. To ensure that the lock can be secured, even when the door is open, by actuation of the lever 20, the peg 37 seats in the cut-out 38 of the gate if the lever is actuated with the latch in the unsecured position, Fig. 6; in this case engagement of the catch 7 with the latch 4 does not occur. Inadvertent looking of the door by actuating the lever 20 before closing the door is prevented by dispensing with the cut-out 38. The centre of gravity of the levers may be located at the axis of rotation thereof and, if necessary, with the assistance of weights.
