Abstract

1381570 Perfluoroalkylsulphones BAYER AG 31 Aug 1973 [2 Sept 1972] 41087/73 Heading C2C Perfluoroalkylsulphones of general formula in which R f is C 1-12 perfluoroalkyl, R is H or CH 3 , X is cyano, carbamoyl, -COOM or -COOR 1 , M is H, alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or optionally substituted ammonium ion and R 1 is C 1-24 alkyl or C 2-5 alkenyl, are prepared by reacting a sulphinic acid R f SO 2 H with an unsaturated compound CH 2 =C(R)X at 10‹ to 120‹ C. Compounds wherein X is -COOR 1 or -COOM may be prepared by esterifying an acid of general formula with an alcohol R 1 OH or neutralization with a compound containing an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonium ion. Preferred compounds contain R 1 =vinyl or allyl and X= carbamoyl. Amongst the examples the compounds C 4 F 9 SO 2 CH 2 CH 2 COOH and are prepared.
