Abstract
1381560 Measuring boom angle extension electrically VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNO ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT STROITELNOGOI DOROZHNOGO MASHINOSTRONEIA 1 Jan 1973 [31 Dec 1971] 75/73 Heading G1N A position transducer serving as a crane radius transducer comprises a first input shaft 1 linked, in use, to a crane boom 19 and to a screen 2 in the form of a disc having two sections 3, 4; and a second input shaft 5 coaxial with the first and coupled through link 6 and bracket 7 carrying two pairs of magnetic cores 8, 9, 10, 11 the first pair 8, 9 arranged so that the section 3 rotates in the air-gap between them in response to rotation of the second input shaft as a function of boom extension while the second pair 10, 11 are arranged so that section 4 rotates in the air-gap between them; the cores 8, 11 bearing primary/windings 12, 13 and the cores 10, 11 bearing differentially connected secondary windings 14, 15 which cores and windings are included in a means 16 including a sine-wave generator 24 and a peak detector 26 from which the output signal representative of the product of boom angle and boom extension. In alternative embodiments Figs. 4, 5 (not shown) the two sections of the screen are two circular discs mounted eccentrically on the first input shaft and two conical helices arranged coaxially but with their vertices opposed.
