Abstract

1380856 Valves SOUTHERN INDUSTRIES (CROYDON) Ltd 19 March 1973 13082/73 Heading F2V A multi-way valve for selecting one of a number of beer kegs and at the same time supplying pressurizing gas to the selected keg comprises a liquid selecting unit A and a gas distributing unit B. Unit A has a single output 5 for connection to a beer tap and a number of circumferentially distributed inlets 2 each connected to a separate keg. Unit B has a single inlet 30 for the pressurizing gas and a number of outlets 23, also circumferentially spaced, for supplying gas to the selected keg. The two rotary valves members 10, 20 are connected together for operation in synchronism by a pin 34 on valve member 10 which engages a recess 33 in valve member 20. Valve member 10 has a single right-angled passageway through it and is sealed to the body 1 by ring seals 14 and 8, the latter being provided at each inlet 2 and located by a sleeve 6, fixed by adhesive to the valve body, and an insert ring 9. Valve member 20 has a right-angled passageway 24, the axial portion of which is closed by a plug 26, and a further radial passageway 27 connecting to a circumferential groove 28 for the supply of gas from the inlet passageway 29. The valve member is sealed to the body by ring seals 31 and 39 the latter being located by an insert 38 and a sleeve 36 which rotates with the valve member.
