Abstract

1380646 Cleaning sensitive surfaces XEROX CORP 13 Jan 1972 [15 Jan 1971] 1666/72 Heading G2H Residual toner is removed from an electrostatographic surface 12 by a cleaning member (e.g. rotary brush 720) and the toner particles are dislodged from the cleaning member by a toner removing member (e.g. a flicker bar 741), this toner removing member also serving to triboelectrically charge the cleaning member with a charge of the same polarity as that of the residual toner thereby facilitating removal of toner from the cleaning member. The brush 720 and bar 741 may be contained within a housing 732 connected to an exhaust duct 740 which, in turn, is connected to a filter box. The bar may be mounted so that it is rotated by the brush. Seal plates 734 and 735 may be provided for preventing leakage of toner. The brush may comprise fibres of polyacrylonitrile and polyvinyl chloride and the bar may be comprised of an acetal resin. Alternatively the brush may comprise fibres of cellulose triacetate and the bar may be formed of polytetrafluouroethylene.
