Abstract

1380639 Fermentation apparatus V M BARANOVSKY S A BOGATYKH K V VENEROV N E VISHNEVSKY D I VOLFOVICH V M SIDOROV M P UMANSKY and P N FISHER 28 Oct 1972 49811/72 Heading C6F Apparatus for carrying out fermentation of e.g. paraffin hydrocarbons on yeast, consists of a generally horizontal endless conduit apertured to receive cultivation material through ports 3 to 7, Fig.1, and to discharge cultival liquid through port 8, Fig.2, and incorporating rotary impellers 9, gas distributors 11, water-cooled tubular heat exchangers 10 and gas separating chambers 2, in which froth is destroyed by spraying it with cultural liquid pumped by pump 18 to a distributor 17 for the purpose, and by a mechanical foam breaker driven by a motor 16. The apparatus may be operated in continuous flow.
