1380571 Monoazo basic dyes containing a 1,3,4 - thiadiazole nucleus YORKSHIRE CHEMICALS Ltd 4 Feb 1972 [5 Feb 1971] 4029/71 Heading C4P Novel dyestuffs of the formula (wherein R<SP>1</SP> is H, halogen or alkyl; R<SP>2</SP> is H, halogen or alkyl ; R<SP>3</SP> is halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, aryl or cyano; R<SP>4</SP> is H, alkyl or aryl; R<SP>5</SP> is alkylene; R<SP>6</SP> is alkyl or aryl, R<SP>7</SP> is alkyl and R<SP>8</SP> is H or alkyl or R<SP>6</SP>, R<SP>7</SP> and R<SP>8</SP> together with the adjacent N atom represent a heterocyclic ring containing only one N hetero atom; n is 1, 2 or 3; X is an anion which renders the dye watersoluble; and the nucleus A and the alkyl, aryl and heterocyclic groups may be further substituted except by CO 2 H and SO 3 H and, in the case of A, except by substituted amino groups) are prepared by coupling of an appropriately substituted 5-amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole with an appropriately substituted aniline. The dyestuffs are suitable for the dyeing or printing of tanninmordented cotton, paper, leather, jute, cellulose acetate, polyamide and polyester fibres and, particularly, polyacrylonitrile and its copolymers.
