1356695 Monoazo benzthiazole disperse dyes YORKSHIRE CHEMICALS Ltd 7 Nov 1972 [18 Nov 1971] 53504/71 Heading C4P Novel dyestuffs of the formula (wherein each R<SP>1</SP> is Cl or each R<SP>1</SP> is Br; R<SP>2</SP> is H, Cl, Br, alkyl, alkoxy or acylamino; R<SP>3</SP> is H, alkyl or alkoxy; R<SP>4</SP> is alkylene; and R<SP>5</SP> is H, aryl, OH, alkoxy, carboalkoxy, CN or betacyanoethoxy) are prepared by coupling diazotized 2 - amino - 5,6 - (dichloro or dibromo)- benzothiazole with an appropriate tertiary amine. They are used for the dyeing or printing of hydrophobic fibres, e.g. cellulose acetate, polyamide, polyester and polyacrylonitrile fibres in shades varying from violet through red to yellowish red.
