Abstract
1380524 Commutators SIEMENS AG 12 Feb 1973 [12 Feb 1972] 6848/73 Heading H2A A commutator comprises a series of copper segments 1 on a copper-adherent cured melamine resin insulating layer 21 on the outside of a cured phenolic resin insulating layer 22, the elasticity of the phenolic resin being greater than that of the melamine resin and thereby being such as to allow the commutator to be forced on to a rotor shaft without creating stress in the melamine layer. The commutator may be formed by moulding the layers 21, 22 on the inside of a copper tube, and then slicing the tube longitudinally to create the segments 1.
