1380431 Rotary-scythe mower P DE HALLEUX 17 Dec 1971 [18 Dec 1970] 58671/71 Heading A1F In a lawn mower a motor 14 rotates via the vertical shaft 15 horizontal cutters 16 and in addition a member 17 and an attached vertical cylinder 18 which together with the lawn mower casing 12 form three sides of an annular tunnel 19. Air is drawn in through apertures 21 distributed in the casing 12, and grass and other waste matter is discharged through an aperture in the side of the casing 12. A powerful stream of air is produced in the tunnel 19 by the rotating parts, which may be shaped or provided with additional members to facilitate this. The helical air flow results in a cushion of air at higher pressure next to the casing 12. Accordingly grass and other waste products cannot lodge in the tunnel.
