Abstract
1380421 Tool for extracting sleeves NATIONAL RESEAR3H DEVELOPMENT CORP 13 March 1972 [23 March 1971] 7579/71 Heading B4C [Also in Division B3] To separate two close fitting articles, such as a tube 7 which has been formed on a mandrel 6, or a cup from a deep-drawing die, one of the articles is anchored, the other is urged in the intended direction of separation, and a vibration force is applied to one of them to reduce the frictional forces between them. In an example, the end 5 of the tube is clamped by jaws 3 while the tube 7 is urged to the left by units 2. The jaws are clamped to a support 5a and connected to a conical acoustic intensifier 9 and a transducer 10 which generates mechanical vibrations Guides 11 help to locate the jaws 3. The transducer creates standing longitudinal waves in the articles, the nodes of vibration being movable along the articles by " sweeping " the frequency of vibration of the transducer.
