Abstract
1380320 Gear shift mechanism SAME SpA 6 March 1972 [6 March 1971] 10418/72 Heading F2D A gear shifting control member 1 which actuates the main clutch by a link 3 has the stem 5 of an hydraulic shock absorber 6 pivoted to it at 4. The absorber 6 is connected by a rod 7, loaded by a spring 13, to a lever 10 connected with a brake pad 17 which engages a gear-wheel 18 on the gear-box input shaft 19. Depression of the control member from 1<SP>1</SP> to 1 disengages the clutch connecting the engine to the shaft 19 and at the same time applies sufficient pressure through the shock absorber 6 to compress the spring 13 to apply pressure to the brake pad 17 to stop the shaft 19 and after a time delay the shock absorber 6 recovers releasing the brake and permitting engagement of gears 18, 21. Release of the member 1 re-engages the clutch and restores the original position. Other mechanical, electrical or hydraulic tuning devices may be used in place of the shock absorber 6.
