Abstract
1380007 Trifluoromethylthio-anilino-nicotinic acid compounds SYNTHELABO 14 July 1972 [15 July 1971 30 Sept 1971] 33133/72 Heading C2C Novel compounds of the Formula (I) in which R is H or a C 1-6 alkyl group, and their salts with pharmaceutically acceptable inorganic or organic acids, or when R=H, with pharmaceutically acceptable bases, may be obtained by reacting m-trifluoromethyl-thioanilinine in an aromatic hydrocarbon with a compound of the formula in which X represents a bromine or chlorine atom or an alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulphonyl, or nitro substituent or any other substituent having an effect equivalent to that of Cl or Br, and optionally converting into a salt. Compounds in which R = H may also be obtained by alkaline or acid hydrolysis of a compound in which R is alkyl. Pharmaceutical compositions having antiinflammatory analgesic and anti-pyretic activity comprise compounds of Formula (I) above or their salts in association with a pharmaceutical carrier, preferably in forms suitable for oral or rectal administration.
