Abstract

1379732 Floating navigational aid R T MOON 10 April 1972 [20 Jan 1971] 2800/71 Heading B7A [Also in Division H4] A floating body, or a fixed structure which may constitute a navigational hazard to boats or ships, is composed of a glass reinforced plastics material which is not intrinsically reflective of radar waves but which is made so for waves of specified search frequencies by incorporating in said material aluminium needles of such lengths that they constitute reflective dipoles. The needles may all be of the same length, for a single search frequency, or be of a mixture of lengths, for several search frequencies. In a boat, it is not necessary to incorporate needles in the material of the hull below the water line.
