Abstract
1379339 Change-speed gear ERWIN KAMPF MASCHINENFABRIK 16 April 1973 [14 April 1972] 18286/73 Heading F2D A web-winding shaft 5 driving a winding core 7 through a friction drive 6, is driven from an input shaft 1 at two or three ratios through toothed or belt drives, the higher (input-output), speed ratio 16 of which becomes effective automatically without jerk when, to compensate for the increase in diameter of the wind the output shaft 5 is decelerated by releasing an electromagnetic or other clutch 11, 12 in the lower ratio 10. With three ratios (Fig. 2, not shown), the intermediate ratio has a second one-way clutch (27) which is connected to input through a disengageable clutch (26, 29). The output friction drive 6 slips to provide stepless variation within the limits of the ratio steps. Reversing gear may be arranged between the shaft 5 and the load.
