Abstract

1379323 Consuming noxious gases; baffles ALDEN PRESS Inc 7 Sept 1972 [20 Sept 1971] 41571/72 Heading F4B In ah incinerator for effluent gases, gases introduced at 6 are heated by gas fired burners B in a square section chamber 1, and a transition section 2a to a further combustion chamber section 2b and an outlet 3, and baffles D each comprising an outer member adjacent to the combustion chamber wall and members extending across the chamber are arranged in the combustion chamber to increase turbulence. Each baffle D, Fig. 6, comprises an outer ring 22 with holes 26 to facilitate mounting, and a plurality of diametric strips 24 extending across the combustion chamber. The outer ring 22 breaks up the boundary layer formed against the combustion chamber wall, and the strips 24 divide the flow into a number of turbulent streams.
