Abstract

1378955 Amino compounds DEUTSCHE GOLD - UND SILBER - SCHEIDEANSTALT 1 March 1972 [12 March 1971] 9530/72 Heading C2C [Also in Division C5] 1-Methylamino-2-hydroxy dodecane is prepared by reacting 1,2-epoxydodecane with methylamine in the presence of methanol. 1-nbutylamino - and 1 - benzylamino - 2 - hydroxydodecane are prepared likewise (Ex. 1). An acid salt of 1-methylamino-2-hydroxydodecane is prepared by reacting 1-methylamino-2-hydroxydodecane with (a) ethylchloroacetate (Ex. 2) or (b) butylacrylate (Ex. 3), and removing the ester group by saponification with NaOH. The sodium salt of N-(2-hydroxydodecyl)sarcosine is produced by treating sarcosine with sodium and methanol and then with 1,2-epoxydodecane (Ex. 4). The sodium salt of N-(2-hydroxydodecyl)-beta-alanine is produced by reacting aminopropionitrile in methanol with 1,2-epoxydodecane followed by saponification with NAOH (Ex. 5). The sodium salt of N-(3-hydroxytridecyl)-aminopropionic acid is prepared by reacting gamma hydroxytridecylamine with buty acrylate and removing the ester group by saponification with NaOH (Ex. 6). Compounds of Exs. 2 to 6 are detergents for shampoos (see Division C5).
