1378855 Making spacers for windows STANDARD-METALLWERKE GmbH 20 Nov 1971 54027/71 Heading B3A [Also in Divisions E1 and F2] A spacer for double glazed windows (see Division E1) comprising a D-sectioned tube 1 with a plurality of aligned slots along its flat surface is produced by drawing the section blank over a mandrel 9 above a base 7 having a channel corresponding to the tube's section and urging a rotatable wheel 12 with a plurality of spaced cutters 13 against the tube to cut slits in the tube and also press the cut material inwardly of the tube. The tube may subsequently be passed through a die 22. The inclination of the cutter's support 16 may be varied by a setscrew 21.
