Abstract

1378540 Reforming catalysts UNIVERSAL OIL PRODUCTS CO 24 April 1972 [14 July 1971] 18869/72 Heading B1E Catalysts are prepared by forming a composite which has been oxidised at 427-649‹C of a platinum group metal and germanium on a porous carrier material having a surface area of 25-500 m<SP>2</SP>/g and reducing it by charging the composite to a reactor under substantially anhydrous conditions the reactor being in a reduced state, contacting the composite with substantially dry hydrogen while increasing the temperature to 191-218‹C over at least two hours, maintaining the temperature at 191- 218‹C for at least 2 hours, raising the temperature to 538-593‹C at a rate not exceeding 56‹C per hour and maintaining the tempera- .ture at 538-593‹C for at least one hour, and thereafter cooling the reduced composite under substantially anhydrous conditions.
