Abstract
1378318 Skip hoist P N EVANS 15 March 1973 [29 Feb 1972] 9207/72 Heading B8H A skip hoist for raising building materials comprises a carriage 30 with rollers 34 for movement along a trackway 2 and a skip 31 supported on the carriage by two pairs of links 36, 41. The links 36, 41 are pivotally mounted at one end to the base 38 of the skip and are respectively mounted at their other ends to a support arm 35 mounted on the carriage and to the carriage. The linkage being such that on tipping the skip the centre of gravity thereof initially moves along a straight line. A buffer 16 is mounted at the upper end of the trackway for engagement by the carriage to utilize the momentum of the skip to produce a self-tipping effect. A pair of rollers 17, also mounted at the top of the trackway engage the skip on its return path, to return same to its carrying position. A manually operated latch 42 may retain the skip in its carrying position when the carriage reaches the top of the trackway. The trackway is formed of a series of detachable sections each having a pair of side rails (5), Fig. 2 (not shown), with a series of cross ties. The sections are mounted on a mobile base (1) incorporating a winch and associated control, and are braced by a stay (4). The upper end of the trackway has a curved section and is releasably secured to the building under construction. A frame 50 for carrying sheet materials is releasably mountable over the skip and is attached to the carriage by pairs of struts 56 with pins (57), Fig. 6 (not shown), to engage in apertures in the carriage and captive bolts (59) to threadably engage the carriage.
