Abstract
137,757. Wade, H., (Liberty Tool C'o.). July 8, 1919. Drills.-In a portable drilling-machine with a fluid-pressure feed, such as is deecribed in Specification 125,957, [Class 83 (iii), Metals, Cutting], the driving motor is supported on brackets carried by the pressure cylinders, which are thus out of line with the drill, the pistons being attached to a bar carrying clamps for holding the work. Two cylinders k, having a fluid supply pipe u with admission ports and a relief valve w, are mounted one on each side of the bar i which also carries a stop r for limiting the feed. A fixed bracket e and a sliding bracket e<1> carry the motor and drill. The piston-rods l are connected by a yoke m and clamping-bolts o to the bar i. Fig. 8 shows an arrangement with a single cylinder l mounted on the bar i to which the piston is clamped as desired by a split collar 11 expanded by a spring-pressed wedge 12 screwed in by means of an outside handle 18, a check valve 16 being formed on the spindle. In another form (not shown), as single cylinder is used clamped at the side of the bar i and having the fluid admitted through the interior of the piston-rod and piston.
