Abstract

1377280 Drill head unit M C FLORES and A STAGGS 27 Dec 1972 [27 Dec 1971] 59734/72 Heading B3C A drill head unit comprises a main member 11 supporting a pair of holders 18, each of which supports a hexagonal carbide throwaway insert. The member 11 is integral with a shaft 12 which has a threaded transverse hole 13 and a hole that runs longitudinally thereof to allow cooling fluid to the cutting inserts. Each holder has a shaft 17 that fits in a hole 16 that is inclined to the longitudinal axis of the unit. The holder is held in place by a screw 20 engaging in notch 19. Each insert is held in position by a screw 22 and the angular sides of notch 25.
