Abstract

1377037 Laminating fabrics by winding techniques TAMPEREEN VERKATEHDAS OY 18 May 1973 [27 June 1972] 23871/73 Heading B5N [Also in Division D1] A needled papermaking felt is made by longitudinally moving an endless base fabric 1 in direction A and applying thereon in the same direction a carded fibre web 14 which is simultaneously moving in the transverse direction B, the speeds in directions A and B being such that the web is deposited as spiral windings 14a which cover the width of the fabric 1, and needling the web to the fabric. The windings may overlap. Webs may be applied to both faces of a fabric or successively to the same side of a fabric, needling taking place after each web application (see Figs. 3-7, not shown), The fabric 1 may be removed by dissolving or melting. The web 14 may be fed directly from crepe rollers 11 and a card 10 as shown, or may be pre-carded and fed from a supply roll; the feeding means may be disposed on a support 9 which is engaged by a displacing screw 13. The fabric 1 is tensioned by roller 3. The web 14 may pass under a compression roller 6 and the assembly is needled at 5. The fabric 1 may comprise spun, monofilament or multifilament yarns and the web 14 may comprise curled cut fibres of wool, polyamide, p.v.c., polyester or polyacrylonitrile.
