Abstract

1375775 Self-levelling article dispenser PETERS & CO Inc 17 April 1972 [19 April 1971] 17678/72 Heading A4T A self-levelling article dispenser in which a vertically movable platform on which layers of articles e.g. cups, are stacked and which presents the next lower layer of articles at an opening at the top 10, Fig. 2a of a cabinet 11 when the top layer is removed, has one side of the platform carried by brackets 15a supported by pulleys 18 running on vertical tracks 51 and secured to cords 41, 41a passing over fixed pulleys 44-46 and pulley 39 at the top end of an adjustably fulcrumed balance lever 19 and then secured to the casing at 42, the lower end of the lever being connected via cord 48 and fixed pulley 49 to spring 47 carried by bracket 42. Lever 19 carries slider 23 with rollers 24 rolling on lever edge 21 and gears 33-35 pivoted at 32 and engaging rack 37 on the lever and rack 38 on fixed strut 22, the slider being adjustable along the lever by knob 17, universal joint 31, nut 29 and screw 27 connected to bracket 26 pivotable at 25 on the slider. On moving the screw into the nut, the slider is raised giving the spring a longer moment arm on the lever as it pivots around the gears to carry 1 eavier articles. As the platform rises from its bottom position at 15a the cords and spring swing the lever 19 clockwise towards strut.22. In the embodiments of Figs. 4, 8, the platform is supported on cords as in Fig. 11, leading over pulleys to single cord 118 which passes over fixed double sheave 130, 132 and double sheave 122 at the top of lever 126 carried by link 170 pivoted at 176, the bottom of the lever being connected to spring 47 in cord 136. The adjustable lever fulcrum is pulley 146 on adjustable lever 148 and rides over curve surface 144 of the lever. In the embodiment of Fig. 8 the lever 256 has a fixed fulcrum 258 but the point of application 268 of the spring load is adjustable along the lever by screw 264 having a lost motion connection 280 with the knob 17.
